Released in 2025, Snow White is directed by Marc Webb and written by Erin Cressida Wilson. It is a live-action reimagining of Disney’s 1937 movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which itself is based on the 1812 fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.
Although the film has faced criticism for its casting, the real problem lies in its storyline. The changes introduced to reinvent the original have led to inconsistent character arcs for both Snow White and Jonathan, resulting in a disjointed plot structure.

1. Snow White’s invisible plot structure
1A. Script of original Snow White (1937) borrows 97% of its events from 4 mythological tales
The Evil Queen’s quest is driven by the desire to punish offenders. The quest borrows events from the tale of Duryodhan in Hindu mythology. Duryodhan’s treacherous attempt to eliminate the Pandavas to become the ruler is similar to The Evil Queen poisoning Snow White to be the fairest of them all.
Snow White’s quest is driven by the desire to be in a safe environment. The quest borrows events from the tale of Odysseus in Greek mythology. Both Odysseus and Snow White navigate their way through hostile territory and are finally saved by divine intervention.
Dwarfs’ quest is driven by the desire for honour & loyalty. The quest borrows events from the tale of Hanuman in Hindu mythology. Both Hanuman & Dwarfs become loyal allies of those that they initially suspected.
Prince’s underdeveloped quest borrows events from the tale of Ram from Hindu mythology. Both Ram & Prince recover their lost loved ones.
1B. Script of new Snow White (2025) borrows 93% of its events from 5 mythological tales
Snow White has another quest driven by the desire of justice and borrows events from the quest of Idealism.
Jonathan has two more quests of honour & idealism.
The quests of Evil Queen & Dwarfs are retained from the original. However, the quest of Dwarfs is truncated to make room for Snow White & Jonathan’s enhanced quests.
The script develops the characters of Snow White & Prince (Jonathan). Not by deepening the existing quests but by giving them more quests, thereby making them inconsistent.

I. How does interweaving mythological tales lead to infinite story plots?
II. Can the pursuit of a Desire have more than one quest?
2. Potential of Snow White's plot structure: $82–103MM
The interweaving of 32 mythological tales can generate a billion unique stories. By using these 32 tales, we can extract the plot structure of any story across various genres. Our study of blockbuster, hit, and flop plot structures led to the discovery of the Mythosis Code, a set of principles for creating compelling stories. The plot structure of a story is analyzed to see how well it adheres to these storytelling principles.
2A. Plot structure evaluation of Snow White
- All Blockbusters have at least 3 universal quests. Snow White uses 2 universal quests of Tranquillity & Vengeance. The quests of Honour, Idealism & Order are sparingly used.
- In Blockbusters, each universal quest is mirrored by ONLY ONE character. Snow White mirrors the universal quests of Tranquillity & Idealism. The Evil Queen mirrors the quest of Vengeance. The Dwarfs mirror Honour. Jonathan mirrors Order, Idealism & Honour.
- Every Blockbuster character borrows at least 35% of the universal quest. Snow White borrows 23% events from the quest of Tranquillity & 9% from idealism. The Evil Queen borrows 32% events from the quest of Vengeance. The quest of Dwarfs is reduced to 8%.
- Blockbusters have a quest interweaving threshold of 0.5. Interweaving occurs when events of 2 quests occur simultaneously in the story. Snow White’s quest interweaving score of 0.67 is above par.
An example of interweaving the quests of Odysseus & Duryodhan:

2B. Box office revenue estimation of Snow White
The revised script has retained only one of four original character quest – that of the Evil Queen. But made the quests of Snow White & Prince (Jonathan) inconsistent. Lastly, it has also truncated the quest of Dwarfs.
The 2025 version further develops the characters of Snow White & Prince (Jonathan) not by deepening the existing quests but by giving them more quests, thereby making them inconsistent.
The Script Score measures a plot structure’s adherence to the four principles of Mythosis Code. We use the Script Score to estimate a movie’s audience appeal & revenues. Blockbuster plot structures have a score of at least 0.64 and appeal to 20% of the audiences. Snow White has a script score of 0.06 and will appeal to 1.72 – 2.10% of the population.
The original with a script score of 0.63 will appeal to 18.06 – 20.07% of the population
