Here, directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth is based on the graphic novel by Richard McGuire. The movie marries the concept of Forrest Gump with Cloud Atlas. It showcases only the concept & fails to tell a story. There is a shallow exploration of basic human desires of independence, curiosity and social contact. Mythosis, leverages these desires and mythological tales to create a plot structure that unlocks the concept’s potential.

1. The invisible plot structure of Here
1A. HERE doesn’t have a plot structure. It borrows a few events from 3 mythological tales
Richard’s quest is driven by the desire for companionship and mirrors the tale of Psyche from Greek mythology. Both Psyche and Richard strive to win back their loved who have left them.
Margaret’s quest is driven by the desire to gain respect and mirrors the tale of Kaikeyi from Hindu mythology. Both Kaikeyi and Margaret, feeling betrayed by their husbands, forge their own paths.
Leo’s quest is driven by the desire for self-reliance and borrows events from the tale of Daedalus from Greek mythology. The inventions of both Daedalus & Leo secure their position in society.
None of the other characters have any quest.
NOTE: Detailed mirroring of each character’s primary quest to their respective mythological tales is in section “3A. Quests of characters and their mythological counterparts”

2. The potential of Here’s plot structure: NIL
The interweaving of 32 mythological tales can generate a billion unique stories. By using these 32 tales, we can extract the plot structure of any story across various genres. Our study of blockbuster, hit, and flop plot structures led to the discovery of the Mythosis Code, a set of principles for creating compelling stories. The plot structure of a story is analyzed to see how well it adheres to these storytelling principles.
2A. Plot structure evaluation of Here
- All Blockbusters have at least 3 universal quests. Here doesn't use any universal quests
- In Blockbusters, each universal quest is mirrored by ONLY ONE character. Characters borrow a few events
- Every Blockbuster character borrows at least 35% of the universal quest. Characters borrow a few events.
- Blockbusters have a quest interweaving threshold of 0.5. Interweaving occurs when events of 2 quests occur simultaneously in the story. Here doesn't have any quests that can be interwoven.
2B. Box office revenue estimation of Here
HERE doesn’t meet any of the principles of storytelling.
